Meet The Speakers
GINA MILLER - CO-FOUNDER OF SCM DIRECT, TRANSPARENCY ACTIVIST & PHILANTHROPIST
Gina Miller is a prominent businesswoman, a passionate philanthropist and responsible capitalist who has campaigned in the areas of investment and pension reform, political transparency and scrutiny, modern day slavery, social justice and the charity sector.
In 2016, Gina successfully challenged the Government over its authority to implement Brexit, winning in both the High Court and Supreme Court. In 2018 Gina continues a ‘democracy and legality’ watching brief of the UK Government’s activities, including challenging the legality of the £1 billion payment to Northern Ireland for the 10 DUP votes, and the power grab within the EU Withdrawal Bill.
As an ambassador for the Desmond Tutu foundation, Gina was a featured speaker at the third annual ‘Desmond Tutu International Peace Summit’ in London in April, 2018. The summit explored topics including international peace and security, South Africa in this year of Nelson Mandela’s Centenary, rebuilding Syria and the Oslo Agreement, 25 years on.
SUSANNA LAWSON - FOUNDER OF ONEFILE
Susanna Lawson worked in the health and social care sector and witnessed huge inefficiencies in the training delivery models which drove her to develop OneFile, the leading e-portfolio software in the education sector. Susanna is also the overall winner of The Forward Ladies National Awards 2017.
FIONA DANIEL - HEAD OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION, HSBC UK
Fiona is Head of Diversity and Inclusion for HSBC UK responsible for driving the agenda for one of HSBC’s largest key markets, and described as a game changer and credible future thinker in diversity and inclusion.
Fiona is passionate about inclusion in business and the development and progression of all individuals. She specialises in mentoring and supporting BAME professionals in the workplace be that in the private, voluntary or public sector. Her passion and advocacy for BAME inclusion led her to establish the HSBC UK Embrace Network in 2012.
She is dedicated and vocal in her passion to drive for more inclusive behaviours to be demonstrated to all and works tirelessly for the implementation of a holistic approach to include systems, processes and behaviours and has successfully driven inclusion in HSBC both globally and at a country level.
GRISELDA TOGOBO - CEO OF FORWARD LADIES
Griselda began her career as an electrical engineer, she then veered into business having been influenced by the challenges and successes that her parents experienced as entrepreneurs. She trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with one of the BIG 4 professional services firms but now runs her own businesses, Forward Ladies included. Griselda is a mother of two beautiful children. She is extremely passionate about positively impacting the future of women and girls in the workforce. Griselda joined Forward Ladies as a member and was hooked.
OUR AWARDS HOST THIS YEAR IS FORMER BBC BREAKFAST BUSINESS PRESENTER, PENNY HASLAM
She started her career as a secretary at the BBC where she worked her way up to become a senior business journalist and producer for BBC Radio 4.
From there she was invited to step in front of the camera and microphone to present the business news on BBC Breakfast, the News Channel and BBC Radio 5 Live. Penny has also fronted two Panorama investigations and has reported for The One Show.
In 2013 she was one of Weight Watchers’ celebrity brand ambassadors alongside Patsy Kensit and Greg Wallace.
Penny now works as an award winning inspirational speaker on the subject of Visibility and Confidence and in 2016 she was named the UK’s Speaker of the Year by her professional association, the PSA.
